Exam Results

Results 2018

Results are provisional as we await national comparisons in relation to progress.

Congratulations to our Year 11 students of 2018.  Despite the challenges of huge changes to most of the GCSE examinations and tougher exams year on year, we saw some fantastic results and overall improvements.

6 of our top Castle View students achieved 48 GCSE passes between them, 44 of which were the top grades 9-6 (or equivalent).

Both English and maths progress improved on last year’s results; 63 students achieved grades 9-5 in both English and maths with 27 students achieving grades 9-7 (the top grades) in English.  English performance continues to improve, including the attainment of disadvantaged students – the number of students (disadvantaged) who gained a 4+ in English rose by 20% in 2017 and a further 4% in 2018.

Our disadvantaged students’ provisional progress measure indicates an improvement by 22% (compared to 2017), thereby reducing the differences between themselves and their peers nationally.  Similarly, SEND students’ overall attainment measure has improved from 26.3 in 2017 to 26.8 in 2018.

Some exceptional improvements for subjects such as GCSE Double Science, PE and Media, as well as NCFE Catering – pass rates in these subjects improved by an average of 37%.  Early indications show that overall progress measures (P8) in maths, English and EBacc subjects (e.g. science) is improving.

The school’s continuing strengths can be seen in English, maths, science, PE/sport, media and construction.  The contribution of other subjects ensures our students attain well across a broad and balanced curriculum.
