Results are provisional as we await national comparisons in relation to progress.
Congratulations to our Year 11 students of 2019. Despite the challenges of huge changes to most of the GCSE examinations and tougher exams year on year, we saw some fantastic results and overall improvements.
Six of our top Castle View students achieved 66 GCSE passes between them, 47 of which were the top grades 9-6 (or equivalent).
English and maths attainment improved on last year’s results; 98 students achieved a grade 9-4 in English or maths, 68 students achieved a grade 9-5 and 10 students achieved a grade 9-7 (top grades). There has been an improvement of 8% in the percentage of students gaining a pass in science and a 40% improvement in the percentage passing geography.
Our disadvantaged students’ provisional progress measure indicates an improvement by 15% (compared to 2018), thereby further reducing the differences between themselves and their peers nationally.
There are some exceptional improvements for subjects such as geography, French, child development, catering and music – pass rates in these subjects increased by an average of 41%. The school’s continuing strengths can also be seen in the following subjects:
Construction – 100% Pass with 60% Merit-Distinction (4 years of 100% Pass)
PE – 27% achieved highest grades. 91% achieved grades 4+ (nearly doubled in 2 years)
Dance – 80% grades 4+ with 60% achieving the top grades 7+
Media – Still a strength after 3 years of increase. 61% 4+ with 33% at the highest grades
As a result, the progress measure (P8) in ‘Open Bucket’ options has improved by a massive 72%. Our students attain well across a broad and balanced curriculum.
