This is a really exciting time for current Year 8 students. In the past, students at Castle View School chose their options at the end of Year 8 for GCSE Years 9-11.
We are currently working with a number of education professionals, other schools and exam boards to ensure our curriculum offer meets the needs of our students, preparing them to make the progress they should at GCSE and beyond. There has been a great deal of change to the range and assessment methods of qualifications for secondary school students. As a result we have been reviewing our offer and plans for the future.
The following information and events will be crucial for parents and students in Year 8:
- Mr Thorne will be speaking to Year 8’s in assembly to outline how options will work this year (January 2018)
- PACE Evening for Year 8 Parents & Students is Thursday 1st March 2018 (3:30-6:30). All teachers of Year 8 will be available to talk about your child’s progress. Mr Thorne will be giving presentations to parents / carers throughout the evening on the Options process 2018 and beyond. More details will follow.
- Invitation to join our Parents Forum during the Spring Term (January – April 2018) to discuss our curriculum plans and changes to qualifications. We are keen to involve parents in the plans and take your feedback.
- Castle Chronicle will have articles relating to Options, qualifications, advice and the process every edition for the rest of the academic year. In this way you can be kept up to date.
You may wish to bookmark this page as we will be uploading all letters, details, information and forms relating to Options 2018 here.
