Physical Education: Subject Intent Statement:
The PE curriculum aims to reach the young people from Castle View School and connect them to the inspirational power of Sport and Physical Education so that they are enthused to participate both now and, in the future,
Through the use of various roles such as a performance, coaching and officiating students will experiment with skills and knowledge to enable all students to lead and participate in a balanced, healthy and active lifestyle from a young age as well as develop social, ethical and educational values through physical activity.
The study of Physical Education covers a broad range of physical activities giving students a chance to explore a range of tactics, strategies and compositional ideas as well a chance to express their creativity and passion within the subject. Students will be encouraged to make decisions throughout at each stage and reflect on their own and others performance to develop evaluative skills. Through the development of these skills PE builds students confidence to participate to the best of their ability and overcome any challenge that may present itself.
PE encourages collaboration and students learn how to support each other to achieve a common goal, aiming for success and through a commitment to teamwork and inclusivity; central to being a caring human being and effective citizen. Students learn PE in an environment where students feel inspired to strive for both individual and team excellence, always learning and developing the concepts of fairness and a sense of personal and social responsibility.
In learning PE, students experience and develop a range of life skills and values such as resilience, respect and reflection. Through developing these skills students will feel in a position to be able to ensure they remain physically, mentally and socially healthy throughout their life. They will be about to connect their learning in PE to other disciplines such as biology, therefore further understanding the human body and its limits – in essence they will understand what it means to push the boundaries of human physiology.
Continuous Curriculum Plans Explained
Continuous Curriculum Plan - GCSE Dance:
Our Continuous Curriculum Plans (CCPs) navigate the academic journey of your child by subject from KS2 all the way up into KS5. They allow both staff, students and parents to be clear on what is being taught and where assessments lay in the school year, which in turn, gives students autonomy over their learning as it empowers them to prepare ahead of time.
